Tom has been a PGA Professional over 25 years and has personally developed, coordinated and

executed many Game Improvement Sessions/Clinics for golfers of all levels of ability and age.

He has developed a strong following of students and has helped many achieve proficiency

beyond their expectations. His passion, dedication and enthusiasm for teaching is shared in

assisting and mentoring other professionals in developing a solid teaching technique. Tom is a

traditionalist when it comes to coaching but understands the importance and benefits of utilizing

technology. His goal is to create a fun, learning environment to enhance your level of ability,

knowledge and enjoyment of the game.

 

Tom was selected the 2024 Teacher/Coach of the Year for the Connecticut PGA Section and 2009 Teacher of the Year for the North Florida PGA Section.  He is rated among the top 5 “Best in

Connecticut” instructors. He has been fortunate to be influenced by some the top players and

instructors in the country to include; Jack Nicklaus, Jim Flick, Martin Hall, Jim McLean and

Gary Player.

Tom graduated from Methodist University in 1993 with a degree in Business Administration

with a concentration in Professional Golf Management. He began his career in golf as an

Assistant Golf Professional at the Donald Ross designed Charles River Country Club in Newton

Centre, MA where his tenure spanned 6 years. While at Charles River, Tom worked seasonally at

the Lost Tree Club in North Palm Beach for 3 winters. His relationship with Jack Nicklaus at

Lost Tree led to the position as First Assistant at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, Florida where he

had an integral part in opening the world-class club in 2000 and stayed on board for 6 years.

During his time at The Bear’s Club, Tom was exposed to the best players and teachers in the

world which had a major influence and impact on his teaching style and approach. His next stop

was another Donald Ross gem in Jacksonville, FL – Timuquana Country Club where Tom’s

reputation as a top teacher continued to grow. He was the Golf Professional at Fox Hopyard

Golf Club in East Haddam from 2014 - 2019 where he elevated the level of professionalism to

encourage and promote a high-level of customer service throughout the operation. Tom spent four seasons as the Director of Instruction at Madison Country Club from 2020 through 2023.  His

current and local position is the Director of Instruction at Clinton Country Club where he elevated the instructional programs by 300%.
